Drita and Suzanna
Drita and Suzanna, two of the Roma ladies working for Mangava

Mangava is a co-operative of different craft schemes that provides incomes for both Roma and Albanian women. The Drita e Botes foundation and CAAP (Common Actions Against Poverty) are working together to provide stable employment for women who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Mangava provides training for these women, a safe working environment and the freedom, choice and independence that comes with having an occupation. The women work together to create a variety of beautiful, handmade craft produce which are sold both internationally and locally in Albania.

Not only does Managava provide employment for the women, it is also attempting to break down the barriers of prejudice that exist between the Roma and Albanians. Mangava provides a working environment where the individual is respected and where racism and prejudice are not tolerated.
